According to the UN, “The number of people in the world affected by hunger increased in 2020 under the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic."
821 million people face starvation everyday in some of the world’s most vulnerable and poorest communities. These are not just facts we can read and ignore. No one should go to bed hungry. No one should have to beg for food when it’s the most basic right as human beings. At Waris Foundation, we aim to consistently redistribute food resources to ensure those living below the poverty line do not have to experience hunger and food insecurity on a daily basis.
